There is plenty of surfing and beach activities along the 2 1/2 mile stretch beach between Newport Pier and Balboa Pier. Located just off Newport Pier is Newport Point a popular area for serious surfing. At the tip of Balboa Peninsula near the harbor is The Wedge is more suited to the skilled surfer also popular for extreme body surfing or more my speed watching boats heading in and out of the harbor. The Big Corona Beach has plenty of beach activities, volleyball nets, restrooms and snack bar. Other popular beaches in the area include: Crystal Cove, Little Corona and Reef Point.
