Maui’s last volcanic eruption took place in 1790 the laval flow reached the pacific ocean. The lava is dark in color and has left it’s mark on land and ocean. |

Take a right and follow Hwy 31 until it turns into a narrow very windy road. If you have an extra hour turn into Makena Landing and you will find Keawala’a Church which was built in 1838. Another great beach with surf at the end of that road is Malu’aka Beach. Awesome! This is also the location of the Maui Prince Hotel at Makena Resort. |
